On
April 9th, 2006, staffs of Beijing Earth Village,
volunteers of Program "Green Choice"
and Columbia University Graduate Association
went to Dandelion Middle School in Beijing to
organize a non-profit activity. The purpose
of activity is to educate the students to protect
our environment.
In the morning, staffs of Beijing Earth Village
and volunteers of Program "Green Choice"
planted trees with the students and the teachers.
Volunteers of Columbia University Graduate Association
painted walls for the school.
In the afternoon, staffs and volunteers organized
some activities and classes for the students.
There were three parts: environmental education,
lab of making paper, and games. Students went
to different section by groups. A staff of Beijing
Earth Village, Li Li, gave classes about relationship
between water, energy, and trash, and organized
discussion between students. During the lab
of making paper, students used waste papers
to make recycle paper and had a lot of fun.
There were some quizzes for students about waster
paper and plastic bags after the lab. Students
did very well on the quizzes. That illustrated
they had learned useful knowledge from the activity.
The activity ended about 4:00pm. Through all
the students, teachers, and volunteers' hard
work, the yard of Dandelion Middle School became
cleaner and prettier.
