Love is priceless and great. There are thousands
of caring hearts watching over us underprivileged
children.
I come from Yangou village of Tianshui city
(天水市闫沟村) in Gansu province (甘肃). Because my
family was poor, my father and mother left our
town early to work and earn money so I lived
with my paternal grandparents. My grandparents
couldn't read and they couldn't discipline me.
Every day after school, no one asked about my
school work, and with farm work to do, I didn't
study hard and often failed my tests; sometimes
I skipped school and wanted to go work with
my classmates. My grandparents finally couldn't
control my wild ways anymore, so they took me
to my mother, and with the help of my relatives,
I came to Beijing to study.
As soon as I entered the Dandelion School's
front door, I saw many children with living
circumstances similar to mine. Then I understand
that these children were not from Beijing; they
came from all over the country to study here.
During the first few days, i still didn't listen
to the teachers and didn't pay attention in
class. But with teacher Si's help, I understood
the importance of studying, and even felt that
studying was a lot of fun. From then on, I was
determined to study hard and not disappoint
the people who have helped me.
When I had just made a little progress, the
school gave me the "Improvent Award,"
along with a 250RMB scholarship. After a couple
months of studying, I understood that without
knowledge, one can't contribute to society.
I want to use the scholarship as a form of motivation
and pressure so I will not disappoint everyone
who has helped me in my life.
